Move over Kylie Jenner; there’s a new queen of Instagram in town.
The makeup guru — who is placed third on the Forbes rich list — has lost her reign over Instagram to a very unlikely star, a speckled egg.
Jenner, 21, previously held the world record for the most liked snap of all-time on the photo-sharing platform with her photo introducing daughter Stormi Webster to the world, which raked in more than 18 million likes.
However, her crown was stolen earlier today by a humble photo of an egg. We yolk you not.
The shock dethroning came after a social media campaign was launched on January 4, with the mission to become the most liked post on Instagram.
Featuring nothing more than a picture of an egg, it seemed like an unlikely possibility — especially given Jenner’s loyal fan base.
But the lonely egg has soared past 20 million likes after clocking up nearly 10 million likes in the past 24 hours alone, The Sun reports.
Amused fans posted their congratulations, with many unable to digest the news they’d overtaken Jenner.
“I can’t believe this actually worked,” one person mused, while another declared it was “Mission accomplished!”
The Instagram page @world_record_egg declares: “Let’s set a world record together and get the most liked post on Instagram.
It goes on to encourage followers to help beat “the current world record held by Kylie Jenner (18 million)! We got this #LikeTheEgg #EggSoldiers #EggGang”.
Jenner announced her new arrival with an adorable Instagram post, which showed her tiny daughter holding onto her finger last February, after months of speculation surrounding her pregnancy.
It quickly attracted the highest number of Instagram likes, with the reality star later sharing a heartwarming video of her secret pregnancy journey on YouTube.
Kylie is the richest Kardashian sibling with a $A497 million beauty empire. She is reportedly worth about $1.25 billion.
