Plane crash landing in Iran, 15 dead

Fifteen people are dead and one person has reportedly survived the plane crash at Iran’s Fath airport in the city of Karaj.

Only the flight engineer survived after the plane mistakenly trying to land there instead of at the capital Tehran.

Images of smoke and flames rising in the immediate aftermath of the crash have emerged from the runway at Karaj.

The Boeing 707 cargo plane was carrying 16 people when it got into trouble trying to land, overshooting the runway.

Karaj, virtually an outer suburb of Tehran, is set in rugged mountain country.

Local media is reporting the pilot mistakenly landed at Karaj, before losing control of the aircraft.
